Golden-winged Warbler Ecology and Guidelines for Creating Breeding Habitat Presentation
Presented by Jeff Larkin, Ph.D., Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Marja Bakermans, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Researcher, Indiana University of Pennsylvania The Golden-winged Warbler is a neo-tropical migrant that breeds in early successional habitats of North America. This imperiled songbird has experienced a 90%+ population decline in the Appalachian region over the past 50 years. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is currently considering listing this species under the Endangered Species Act. The recent completion of a study in portions of Pennsylvania and Maryland provided the foundation of a Golden-winged Warbler Forestland BMP publication. These BMP's have potential for implementation through Farm Bill programs on private lands. Learn more by viewing this webinar. Video: Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW) Workspaces
The Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW) program develops win-win approaches with producers and private landowners. WLFW partners understand that collaboration is critical to enhance wildlife habitat and improve agriculture and forest productivity. We can continue to strengthen collaboration -- especially between technical experts from federal and state agencies and non-government partner staff -- through the WLFW workspaces. The WLFW workspaces provide online infrastructure and space for partners to share their expertise with one another, exchange resources and ideas, and plan work together on a certain species, a given habitat or land use, or a specific project. A subset of the resources here are available to producers, landowners, and communities who are interested in, or involved with, the WLFW program.

GTMNERR Community Oyster Shell Recycling and Living Reef Construction Project
This project established an oyster shell recycling program for St. Johns County, Florida, constructed a living shoreline, and planted spartina grass within the boundaries of the new reef to further protect the shoreline and provide nursery habitat for marine species at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Harpeth River Restoration
As part of a jointly funded project via the National Fish Passage Program, the totality of this project is removing a lowhead dam and restoring the immediate area to riffle/run habitat for the benefit of improved water quality and native fish habitat in the Harpeth River, TN.
